Whether you started crafting as a child or as an adult, the first thing you ever made has a special place in your memory. After all, that is where you learned that magic can happen if you have the right tools, the right mindset, and the patience to see it through.
Of course, not all first crafts are winners. I thought I would tell you about the first craft I remember making, so you can see that even an experienced crafter has to start from somewhere.
The first craft I remember working on was a scarf. It was for my mother, and it was red, because red was her favorite. Nanny was helping me, as I was a child, maybe 6 years old or so. It was my very first knitting project, and it was essentially just basic knit and purl stitches, nothing fancy.

Do you have any idea how long a scarf needs to be? To a child, it might as well be a million miles. It took forever, and I did not do a great job with it. There were dropped stitches, straight up holes, and all kinds of tension issues. I’d love to say that I was proud of it, but I was mostly glad to be done with it.
I don’t remember my mom’s reaction to me giving it to her, which might be a blessing in all honesty.
Do you remember your first craft? Do you think it was a success? It’s totally fine it was wasn’t great, mine definitely wasn’t, but I got the crafting bug from it and that’s the important thing.
