Ever wonder what kind of craft supplies and tools that other crafters use? Especially if you don’t know someone else who does the same craft, it can be hard to know what other people are using. Craft stores are becoming a rare breed, so it’s difficult to go in and browse sometimes.
I’m going to try to keep this short and kind of generic without brand names, but I’m making no promises.
Crochet
Padded hooks are my favorite. These are supposed to be ergonomic handles or something like that. They are thicker and have a cushy grip on them. Before these were introduced, the only choice were the thin aluminum kind, and they got tiring to hold and use. Also, I have sweaty hands, and that wasn’t a good combo with the unpadded hooks. Now I pretty exclusively use the padded ones and I love them.
Sewing
I’ve got two for sewing. The first is magnetic pin holders. They are great! The second is heat erasable marking pens. They make marking the fabric easy because I find them easier to use than the tailors chalk, and the marks go away with a swipe of an iron. I have heard people say that the marks may come back if you put the fabric in the freezer, but a) who does that and b) I’ve never had an issue.
Cross Stitch
This is one we haven’t really talked about on this blog yet, but I do like to cross stitch sometimes as well. My favorite thing to use on those is magnetic needle minders. They come in all sorts of cute designs and makes it so simple to not lose your needle. In the olden times, I would just have to sort of park my needle and hope nothing weird happened. Now I can put it on the minder and it doesn’t mess up the fabric.
