Crafting With the Seasons

Posted on May 21, 2025August 22, 2025 by Kelly

As it starts to get warmer, it occurred to me that I am kind of a seasonal crafter. Maybe not fully seasonal, but it made me think a little about how that would even work. It makes sense in some ways, for some crafts, but maybe not all of them.

For example, if you are a gardener, it totally makes sense to work seasonally, otherwise your garden doesn’t grow. Which means that things related to gardening also come seasonally, such as canning or preserving the goodness the garden gives to you.

But most crafts don’t really depend on the weather in the same way. I’ve found that I am more motivated to work on warm, more cozy crafts in the autumn and winter months. Crocheting blankets and scarves in the heat of summer is just not for me. But as the weather turns cooler, I find myself turning more towards it more frequently.

What else might be an example of seasonal crafting? Maybe spring inspires you to work with more pastel colors, while autumn makes you yearn for deep earth toned colors. We also tend to associate some scents with particular seasons, so that’s also something that can encourage seasonal crafting.

Do you feel the urge to be a seasonal crafter? Have you ever thought of this or even noticed that it might be happening?
