Cracking Eggs

Posted on April 11, 2025July 25, 2025 by Kelly

Let’s talk about eggs. Many baked goods require at least a few eggs here and there. Have you ever cracked an egg and then had to fish out tiny pieces of shell? Super annoying, right?

Did you know that there is a “right” way to crack an egg?

Yep, you read that correctly!

Here’s the deal. You should crack the egg on a flat surface, and not crack it against the side of a bowl.

That’s it. That’s the whole tip.

The theory is that if you are hitting the eggs against a flat surface, you aren’t driving bits of shell up into the egg itself when it cracks. So when you pull the shell apart to let the egg out, there won’t be any shell pieces inside.

Do this instead:

I’m personally of the opinion that any method you use to get an egg out of the shell is the right method. Do you crack your eggs the “right” way?
