About Tradition Meets Today
Welcome to Tradition Meets Today, where the charm of traditional “old timey” skills blend seamlessly with the rhythm of modern life. My name is Kelly, and I’m thrilled you’re here to join me on this journey of rediscovering these skills and making them relevant for today’s lifestyle.
Growing up, I was surrounded by the magic of handmade creations—watching my grand-aunt make beautiful quilts, helping my grandparents grow vegetables in their backyard garden, learning the art of cross-stich at the kitchen table, and so much more. These experiences instilled in me a love for time-honored traditions and a deep appreciation for the stories behind them.
But like many of us, as I got older, life became fast-paced, and these beautiful practices seemed to fade into the background. That’s why I created Tradition Meets Today—a space to bring these skills back to life and adapt them for the modern world.
I saw a video where someone said that no one learns these skills from previous generations anymore. I was fortunate enough to learn these skills from my family, and I want to help you learn them too.
Here on the blog, you’ll find:
- Step-by-step tutorials to master skills like canning, sewing, gardening, and more.
- Tips for modernizing traditional crafts, making them accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
- Inspiration to slow down, connect with your roots, and find joy in creating with your hands.
And of course, lots of family stories and experiences to help you along the way. I’ve got plenty of things to share, and I’d love for you to come along the journey with me. Whether you’re a seasoned maker looking to expand your skills, or someone just beginning to explore the world of crafting and homemaking, this space is for you.
Let’s celebrate the beauty of slowing down, honoring tradition, and discovering how these traditional practices can enrich our modern lives.
Thank you for stopping by—I hope you find inspiration, encouragement, and maybe even a little nostalgia as you explore the blog. Don’t forget to say hello in the comments or connect with me on social media!
Warmly,
Kelly
