Time to talk about the next crochet stitch. And this time, we are tackling the triple crochet.
If you’re thinking wow, single, double, triple, how far is this going to go? Well, this is it. Triple is the last stitch in this part of the series. There are lots of other types of stitches, and we’ll talk about those, but the triple crochet is the last of this particular type.

Take a moment and think about the stitches we’ve talked about so far. How do you think the triple crochet will be different? How do you think it will be the same?
Off we go! Starting with our single loop on the hook, here are our next actions:
- Yarn over TWICE
- Insert hook in the V of the row below and pick up both loops
- Yarn over and pull through the two loops of that V, 4 loops on hook
- Yarn over and pull through 2 loops, 3 loops on hook
- Yarn over and pull through 2 loops, 2 loops on hook
- Yarn over and pull through last 2 loops
- You should be left with the single loop on your hook again
You’re done with your first triple crochet! Did you see how it was different? Yep, that’s right, the double yarn over at the beginning of the stitch. I suppose you could theoretically keep yarning over to make a quadruple crochet, but it’s not something that I would consider a commonly used stitch.
You’ve got the basics down now, and I’m so proud of you for figuring it out. We’ll talk about other stitches as well, but these stitches are enough to get you started on a lot of projects.
